Sorry, for harping on this question one more time, but I am scheduled to come to A.C. for the first time (a honeymoon) Nov 6 to 13th. It sounds like from most accounts it may be best if we go someplace else due to clean up efforts and the potential drain on resources. While our resort has reported none to very limited damage, they are offering a refund. Is it best we not come due to the whole rebuilding/clean up effort?

Any information would be helpful to make an informed decision. Thank you in advance!

Golden Bear,
We have just discussed your post and although it is difficult to steer anyone from our beloved San Pedro for any reason, this is a pretty important moment for both of you.

Everything will be fine in a few months (or sooner) but my heart (though heavy) tells me that it would be best to find another option right now. Please come to AC for your first, second, or twentieth anniversary. This is a very special place with a VERY big heart that hurts a bit right now.

In the end we hope that it will be as special to you as it is to us. See you in November of 2001, just let us know where and where. Champagne on us.

Trust what Bluecuracao has posted, he is very sincere in helping you make your decision.
It is so difficult for us to steer you another way, because we have spent alot of time encouraging visits to San Pedro, because we love it so much. Keith has just delayed everyone's visit for awhile.

Golden Bear: We decided to postphone our first trip to A.C, which was to be Thanksgiving week. Although it was not a honeymoon, my husband and I both wanted to celebrate our 40th bdays down there. Now, we just have to wait longer, until May, but we are still going to go!

Golden Bear: have you considered French Polynesia? It's beautiful there too -- however, the people makes the big difference -- and that makes San Pedro and Caye Caulker tops. The people makes the place addictive -- Caye Caulker is No. 1 -- very friendly, very hospitable, and just truly wonderful, genuinely lovely people.

If your heart is set on the Cayes -- then go for it! Meeting and making new friends will make it a very wonderful, memorable, and worthwhile honeymoon.

Good luck and best wishes!

I'd say you should try Placencia or Dangriga area. Or even one of the Southern Cayes. Email me if you need help. www.barbsbelize.com

I am sad to say that I will be postponing my trip till next year. I have found out so much info about A/C since Keith that I am in the progress of organizing some relief help from Rotary. I am really sad to not be able to deliver the check in person, I will however see everybodys effort next year. The main reason for postponing is conflicting reports. Now that the dust has settled, people are seeing more clearly and giving better advice. I belize that I do not want to be disappointed on my first visit and would rather see everything in its full glory. I also think Thanksgiving might be too soon for us & you.Second reason being a person in our party may be pregnant and she does not want to risk anything(ie:chemicals for mosquitoes in h20 etc.)3rd reason, my parents are coming. I wish my vacation was not during thanksgiving but christmas, then I would not have any doubts. Personally I would come but minority never rules. Please do what everyone in your party feels comfortable with, no regrets!! I wish everyone the best and "will" see you soon.
