Last advisory and discussion puts the storm at:
15 GMT 08/20/01 17.7N 86.3W 65 1007 Tropical Storm


we're at 18N and 87W so its entering into the island area right now.

on the GOES link under the thread "storm center" you can zoom in and see that there is a small semicircle of calmness past the initial edge of the storm, right before the center-ish of the storm.

we're about to be in that area, then the center will come thru maybe ever so slightly north of the island, maybe right over. winds remain below hurricane force.

surge from the east so far is below the tops of the piers, but rising.

The Cayes, are likely to be in some sunshine or thin cloud any time
now. Then you will get a bigger dousing, and soon after that, maybe
without much break, a much bigger dousing.


This is discerned by going to this excellent satellite shot, putting your cursor or arrow or pointy finger right by San
Pedro and then giving a click.

Slamdunk it, as I hintimated in my earlier post, I'm worried that
sucker is going to sit and rain and rain and rain.


Keith was stalled by the Gringolian blocking front far out in advance
of the visible front itself. Then the front just kept building in as
Keith vainly tried to gnaw through.

12:45, downtown...
clouds are turning blacker, waves
getting bigger, sea level rising and wind picking up very slowly.

The sea level has rised and the surge seems it might affect the piers again.


I can see the Amigos Del Mar from the third floor at Martha's and the water
level has reached the planks already.
