After buying candles, batteries, kerosene, water, canned goods, fueling the generator, pulling my boat, boarding up the windows and doors, I now sit on the throne of my entombment and stare at its wall from which looms the portal of the worlds philosophical communications.
Hark! A Prose of anticipation, relief and disappointment.
“Hear I sit all brokenhearted came to shit ,but only farted!”

Glad you are safe and sound, and still have your sense of humor!

My boyfriend and I are/were planning on coming to the Caye this coming Saturday. However, we can't get through to our hotel.

I wonder if we should still come? How do we find out if "tourist activity" will resume?

Cheers,
Darcy

Hold on... I think the hotels are closed for now. 24-48 hours from now it should be clear as to whether you can go or not.

darcitananda...

My wife and I are also in that "are/were" traveling to Belize category. Our plans have/had us coming in Friday afternoon. I am hoping that by tomorrow at this time we will have a good feeling as to the condition of AC and the remnants of Chantel. It seems as though AC was very prepared for this one and IF it does not get TOO crazy there tonight... SHOULD be ok. Obviously our main concern at this point is for the safety and well-being of everyone in the path of this monster. At the same time, AC recognizes, I am certain, that tourism is its lifeblood and getting things up and running ASAP is paramount to survival. Electricity and water will be the key factors... If either go offline tonight, my guess is that restoration may be a big problem on AC as it relates to manpower, equipment and supplies.

On a related subject.... Hats off to everyone associated with running this board... What an excellent means of not only advertising Belize during the good times, however, keeping concerned loved ones, safety officials and tourists in the loop as well.. Great Job! One of these days when things have calmed down, I would love to hear the origins of this board. Who started it and how long ago etc.....

Peace!
