I think this has been asked but cannot seem to get the search to work right now (computer problems here I think) so...
we are finally coming back to San Pedro as we think the kids are old enough now but just wondering how much has the island changed in the 5-6 years since we've been there? It's been wa-a-ay too long. I know time marches on and progress comes and things change...but we aren't going to be too disappointed are we? We loved the island! Will the kids enjoy as much as we hope? thanks R.

i would say that the island has developed alot, meaning that there are alot of more buildings now than there was before, and there are alot of opportunities developing on the island . But for the most part i think it still has that same charm that it did when i first came there.

San Pedro has changed a lot in the last 5 years....some good, some bad. I think you'll find that its still a very unique destination. A wise man once said, "there's still some magic left in this tourist town."

I first went to San Pedro (and Caye Caulker, Caye Chapel, St Georges Caye etc. etc.) in 1984 and quite a lot has changed smile I am remarkably suprised it has changed so well though. It is still a great destination and it does maintain a good deal of the charm it had originally.
