She didn't make it. Chantal's center of circulation is now almost
directly over Chetumal, Mexico, past Ambergris Caye and the Bay of
Chetumal, and her maximum sustained winds remained at near-70.
Hurricane-strength gusts in places, of course, but no cigar.

EIGHT TO TWELVE inches of rain now predicted. All other numbers remain
the same. North and east of where the center crossed, rough weather to
continue for as long as twelve hours while Chantal drags her tail in
from the Caribbean and across the Yucatan. Central pressure 1001
millibars and will probably rise. Forward speed 13 miles an hour and
will probably fall. Max sustained winds, too, will probably fall.

But for the Cayes and Belize, possibly excepting Corozal Town and
environs, that's the name of that tune. It will gradually fade out in
the distance. It may drag some heavy rains from southwards after it,
and douse you that way, but that's about it.

Tomorrow afternoon or evening, Chantal, if still composed, may make a
comeback in the Gulf of Mexico, probably enroute to, er, Mexico.
Across the Bay of Campeche and northward, more or less. We'll keep an
eye out for her, since she never formed one.

from SP few minutes ago. Clear sky and dead calm. They may be in what will pass for the
eye right now. Sea about 2 feet above normal, a few dead rollers coming in.

Does this mean that it is over except for the rain and winds?
