The vis is lower than last year (about 60 feet) due to the recent storms, but still some pretty cool things to see. Water temp was 81. We did 2 local dives through Amigos Del Mar,and our dive master Tony was great. I got to hold & pose with as nurse shark for a picture (will post when we're back home)! We plan on going to Turneffe and will do a night dive. Will update after they occur.

I was just about to post asking for a dive report. Thanks for the update.

Not too happy about the 60 ft vis. Hopefully it will open up by December.

Sue, I must have been diving with you today. I went with Penguino (Tony) and rene this morning!

Viz has been better on the barrier reef at the sites north of town than south today. It changes daily and certainly with the tides - your guide & boat captain should know where best to take you. Viz also tends to be poorer in shallow water than in deep, and the soft corals on the upper section of the reef, from around 50' to the surface, have been badly knocked around by the storms. A very good time for diving deep.

Usually only 4 to 8" depending on the time of month/year.

I will be @ Turneffe next week and would love to hear about the conditions there, especially water temp and viz! Are you going to the blue hole? My favorite dive is Half Moon Caye...gorgeous!

went to Turneffe yesterday and LOVED it. 3 wall dives - calmer waters and great vis. Saw some gorgeous schools and a spotted toad fish.

Wazter was warm, warm, warm - 85 deagress 80 ft down.

Local dives on Thursday were fantastic. The vis gets better daily. We dived a site we couldn't dive Tuesday because of low vis. Saw a HUGE nurse shark - abou 5-6 feet and some amazing groupers, brittle starts ans the turtles.

KE - I did dive with Rene and Tony! Will be diving with them again tomorrow and Monday. I'm the short blonde with the giant Brit if you're still here and doing come morning dives.

Hoping to go to Eagle Ray Canyon. Heard GREAT reports on it from other divers.

Turneffe was a good dive on Friday, viz could have been better but there was little current. The corals are much better than in the San Pedro dives. Loads of small life. saw a beautiful spotted toadfish, a spotted moray, schools of blue tangs and Parrot fish. Nothing large except an eagle ray in the distance.

Swimming to the boat was equally interesting, Plankton and small jellies were very interesting.

Cannot say enough good things about Amigos Del Mar. They have been the perfect dive shop so far. Only 4 dives left though...

BTW - I am the Giant Brit apparently....
