we got steady 30mph, choppy seas, ugly purple-black clouds. The clear
skies over town earlier are now getting black...

This third eye will have to get some circulation
going before it makes the big rollers come in. Just whitecaps inside the
reef from the wind. No high water yet. The water level had gone back down to
normal, so it won't happen in just a few hours. I think what we're seeing is
a "what if". San Pedro is completely covered in clouds right now. Keith told
us that when a bunch of clouds come up from Honduras into our warm waters,
bad things can happen. If the 3rd eye starts its own circulation, watch out.
If some steering mechanism shoves it onshore before that, we just get some
rain and wind with no cyclonic action.

Conditions are extremely calm. Will go by the pier and see what the
conditions look like and let you know in the next 30 minutes or so.

Report from Paradise Lodge on Placer Point north of Xcalak, via e-mail from the owners' son in Fort Worth.

So far, so good. As of last night it was just raining hard and didn't look too bad. Had fishermen in camp and debated whether or not to go fishing in the lakes yesterday. Finally decided to go out for a few hours with no lunch and had an awesome day. Unlike the fishermen, the tarpon and snook know when it's time to go on the feed before things close in. Everyone hunkered down but safe.
