I am traveling to belize in early january and am staying in the caribbean villas. i just have a couple questions that i hope will help me a little more in planning. As far as scuba diving goes, do i have to make reservations for dive trips in advance or can i just call up when i get there and try and book trips, im not looking to do anything special, just a couple of nice relaxing dives? Also are ATMS available there or is it better to just bring cash and travelers checks? And my last question, by any chance is there any sports bar that would show the NFL playoffs that will be going on, I just dont want to miss the Giants in the playoffs. Thanks very much for your help.

Do a search on ATMs and you will find plenty of info. From my reading there are machines but it's easier to bring lotsa cash and some TCs.

Your resort should be able to arrange diving for you. I'd ask them what their procedure is - AC doesn't seem to be lacking in the dive shop arena, but I know one shop I contacted wouldn't dive w/ me b/c I was staying on the other side of the island... You'll probably dive w/ the shops that are closer to your resort.

Not sure on the playoff's question.

Cholo's, BC's and many others will be showing playoffs.

Caribbean Villas is close to town and all of the dive shops will pick you up from your dock. Your hotel probably has a relationship with an operator but a search of the board will give you plenty of recommendations.

Hi there, NJDiver. My husband and I LOVE diving in AC - especially with Amigos Del Mar. can't say enough great thing about the crew there. If you want to dive exclusively with them, they'll rinse and store your gear for you.

Here's a link to the pictures we took diving from 11/5-11/15 this year (seems so long ago!) http://www.angrypig.com/belize05/

Enjoy your trip - it won't be difficult!
