...we are very lucky, max winds here did not even get to Tropical Storm, bit of rain, a few small waves on shore, but all our thoughts are now with Placencia and Dangriga and points between.

Our friends in Belize City are close to being out of the firing line too, they have had slightly stronger winds and it'll get a little windier yet, but hopefully they will have dodged the bullet too.

From Chris in Tres Cocos:

from my calcs..

the eye went right over the middle of glovers reef at 23.15 gmt..
if it is sticking to a 260-280 course it will be on top of s water caye/tobacco caye at 24.30 or so...
hope i am wrong..the owner of manta resort at glovers called me last nite to ask my opinion....i told him to haul his ass and evac first light...he got the boats in sitee river and is in cayo right now...assume every one else is off the other cayes.

this site

http://wwwghcc.msfc.nasa.gov/GOES/goes8hurrir.html

gives you an hourly update..if you click on the center of the storm it blows it up to 1km res...if you put your cursor on the center it gives you the co-ordinates on the bottom bar...
with the current path it might go straight for sitte river or a bit south - closer to placencia depending on the track....

NOAA updates just posted storm surge warning for Sitee River area south to Monkey River Town. Wind expected to produce moderate damage and inland flooding a possibility from rain, but storm surge in this narrow band is expected to do the most damage... that can't bode well for S. Water, Tobacco, Glover's or Laughing Bird, but hopefully EVERYONE is off! Thanks for the link Chris. Pepper

7pm San Pedro.

A high tide -- but nothing exceptional. Every thing good there. Just like
Corozal area. Rain -- off and on -- very light breeze.

from Julian downtown, Tues AM 7:30

Was hearing some real sad news about Placencia last night on the radio but
it was hard to make out what exactly was being said because the radio
transmissions were real bad. I tried this morning but the same. We had a
brief power outage at 6am sharp and lost cable which is still out after one
hour. The winds were strong at 6am and there was rain and thunder. It has
calmed down right now.

Yesterday about 7pm we walked from central park to Hustlers and notices
some of the piers had lost a few planks but that was about it. We could
see beach erosion on the entire walk.
