I'm going to be down on the island a week from today, and I'd like to get all the way up to the north end of the island, see the park, and nothing else (no snorkeling, etc.). Anyone got any recommendations on who to get me up there for just a boat ride and park visit?

Thanks in advance.

The snorkeling doesn't cost anything....it's the cost of the fuel, and of course someone's time! Several touring companies have smaller boats but I know for sure that ocean adventures tours has a small boat.....and your best bet would be to find a friend or 2 to go along with you so the cost stays down.

I've gone up there a couple of times with Capt. Bicho http://www.fishingsanpedro.com/ . It was around $300US.

I booked Ocean Adventures on one of my island visits (thru the lovely Sandra at Banana Beach) - was around $100 INCLUDING beach BBQ and snorkeling, if memory serves me correctly.

I've had locals take me clear up to Xcalak Mexico for a drink & ceviche but it's been a few years. I'd love to go to Bacalar Chico and to Xcalak. I arrive Jan. 26 if there are any others wanting to get together for a trip let me know.

you have,of course, got to take you and your boat through customs both in Mexico and here on AC -you have to check out of AC-check into Mexico-check out of Mexico and check back into AC -piece of cake-customs and immigration are known for their understanding and sense of humour

The local (from a well known San Pedro diving company) talked to the authority at Xcalak...seemed to know him...we had no problems/delays. Another time a realtor from San Pedro took us to Xcalak on his boat. Used to be really easy to do...but like I said that was a few years ago(maybe 10). Sounds like it may be tougher to do now. It was a lot of fun though.
