Here's my favorite 'can't make all the people happy all the time' story:
I worked for MP3.com, and we started paying our artists money when users downloaded the material that the artists made freely available. (This made no sense economically, but that's a different story). We got mail and phones calls from artists who said it lessened the value of their art, and who the *bleep* did we think we were? We apologized for handing them money. Who knew?
