I'm leaving in 3 days and I get one whole day to myself. I'm planning to walk around town and take pictures. Are there are any rules or laws about taking photographs? Where it is allowed and prohibited? Where I live, they've prohibited photography in a lot of places frown .

Don't take pictures of the U-2 spyplanes circling SIN's house. Do not photograph the Black Hawk DEA helicopters circling Pedro1's house. Other than that I think you're ok.

Also, do not take pics. of new bridge, as that is a major political issue, so I was told, some time ago. Pics of new road North is fine, as well as persons drinking the Belikin beer.
Not wise taking pics of drug dealers, as they might not like it. O.K. to take pics of persons without shoes, as most of us when down do not wear any.

my 2 cents:if you go into the mountains on a trip don't take pics of the mininites/omish people, they don't like that.

When in doubt, error on side of caution - it is always polite to ask. On a recent visit to Panama, a Kuna Indian woman in full dress shook her head when I asked to take her photo, but I knew she knew I respected her enough to ask first.

Also, do not use your camera while in the US airport at immigration - they usually warn you about this. I believe cell phone use is illegal also. This may also be the case in other countries - never bothered to inquire though.
