Boca del Rio Bridge Inauguration:
The inauguration of the new Boca del Rio Bridge will take place on February 25th. Many of our Northern residents have been patiently waiting for this bridge to open. You can attend the ceremonies on Saturday, February 25, 2006

Many people are already walking across. A few are even pushing their bicycles. I won't say anything negtive today.

Windy again and throngs here for the sky divers. I didn't get to the bridge. Tomorrow!

Yes, I was wondering about the ferry, too.

If I'd known, last year I would have crossed on the ferry for nostalgia.

I suppose by the time I get back this April, it will be gone..???

Are the men who worked to pull the ferry going to be reassigned to other jobs? Like do they work for the transportation department?

2 weeks ago when I was there, the ferry men were doing a pretty good job of trying to 'take out' the bridge.. every time they went across, the barge would slam into the concrete pilings, chipping a bit off.. I guess they weren't able to hit it often enough to bring down the bridge, so I'm guessing they're going to be reassigned as tolltakers on the bridge or something.

I think a reasonable 1 or 2 bze for every crossing would help defray the costs, plus contribute toward fixing the roads as well.
