I spoke to Marilyn & Mary (& the rest of the gang) this morning, they have put out the following requests to anyone travelling to Placencia to assist in the next few days.

The following are urgently needed and it would be great if those going back in the next few days can contribute:

batteries, a variety of sizes, but especially "D"s and "C"s
flashlights
candles
sleeping bags
bedding
towels
personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, etc.
first aid supplies, medical supplies, things like ibuprofen, Tylenol, antibiotic cream & wound dressings, bandages.

Oh, boy, my head is spinning. This is a partial list. Obviously the rebuilding effort will be enormous and with so much of the world's attention focused elsewhere, the usual outpouring of aid donations will be a slow trickle, so, any $$$ you can donate to Marty's deal would be fantastic.

Obviously food is needed, but shipping it in suitcases is difficult.

Otherwise that group from Caves Branch, Marilyn, Mary, Dwayne, Kerry, Candy, Barb, Bill and Lisa are okay, they sounded very tired, and a little scared too, but are beginning to marshall themselves to do whatever needs to be done.

There is (obviously) no power and no phones in the village right now. All villagers have been accounted for, apparently, but no one can confirm that for sure.

God be with them, and keep them in your prayers.

Cheers,
Laurie

Hey Laurie,

Patu Young flew back this morning... he brought a bunch of stuff - but also brought some Tarps back. - He was a bit nervous too... but wanted to be close to family and friends. I want to go - but cannot get away right now. It's so hard!

Hi Lori,

Great on the tarps! Geez, one thing we didn't think of!!! I've got bunches of them around, big & small. Into the boxes with those.

I know what you mean, Diane & I are going crazy...we're both tempted to hop the next flight. Wish with all my heart they weren't so far away.

Cheers,
Laurie

Ok, not sure how these things work, but I have great connections with a dentist and could send 100's of toothbrushes/paste down from the states, but..... would this arrive where needed? Or is it easier to purchase these items on the mainland? Are there supplies enough for the many needed?? Let me know. I'm happy to send things down, but have read that this isn't always the best way.

(I will be sending vet supplies, so thought I could combine the two)

Capt Carl and I are concerned about Harry Eiley and Kay Westby in Placencia. If you have heard that they are OK, please let me know. Capt. Carl is gathering items to bring down in his truck to Placencia. I saw one list of items needed. Anymore suggestions. Let me know, he will be crossing Mexician border from Texas tomorrow sometime. Thank you.
