From what I understand, a lady had a heart attack or something similar whilst snorkelling. It wasn't a "snorkelling accident" as such, and there's no suggestion of blame of anybody.

A 66-year-old tourist from the city of Portland, Oregon in the United States has drowned near the Hol Chan Reserve off of San Pedro. XXXXXXX reportedly was a guest at Captain Morgan's Resort in San Pedro and was a part of a team of snorkelers who were touring the Hol Chan Reserve yesterday afternoon. She apparently began experiencing difficulty and was pulled from the water, rushed to San Pedro Clinic, and pronounced dead on arrival. The body has been taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for a post mortem examination. Police say they do not suspect foul play.

If I could choose my preferred way to die, the one described above would be at or near the top of my list -- in a marvelous place doing something I love. Contrast that with being in a vegetative state for months or years, as so many in our culture do these days as their life's end draws near. I hope to leave the scene joyfully!

I read on news.com another lady about same age, staying on Caye Caulker, died the same way at Hol Chan snorkeling, and brought to SP dock, less than 2 weeks back. Last name was Redman.
