I am trying to confirm that two students (Melanie and Olivia), who are studying howler monkeys about a kilometer inland from Monkey River town, are okay. Also any information about the safety of the people in Monkey River would be appreciated.

The girls were staying at the little farm 1 mile up Monkey River. Mia & Omar, who live there as well, evacuated to Independence. I'm sure the girls went with them if they didn't leave earlier in the day. Only a very few people stayed behind in the Village itself. I'm still looking for my husband, Sam Scott of The Monkey House. He did not evacuate and last I heard he was staying in our restaurant with our Rotties. Monkey House was leveled is the word I have received but nothing about Sam.
