Is there a departure tax??? If so, how much? Cash only?
Also, when we spent 2 months in the Domnican last year, we had to pay extra before leaving the country for staying over 60 days...we are staying the same amount of time this May & June, does Belize have anything like that as well??? Thx guys!!!!

My sister & I had a great first time visit to AC in late January, and were not aware of the departure tax. No big problem; a quick trip to the airport ATM and all was well. We probably should have known -- too many better things to think about! We flew American Airlines.

WELL, I usually fly TACA and the departure tax has been included in the cost of the ticket.
It is so much easier when it is included then you do not have to worry about it.
In the past I have alwas stuck the money aside in my return ticket then it is there when I have needed it.
Wish I were there now.
Having SP withdrawal, BAD.

We've always flown TACA - never paid the tax at the airport.

In the earlier years, I had to pay the departure tax at the airport. AA used to collect it at a separate area as you moved up the line to check in. Then, AA began to include it in their ticket price.

I did ask AA if the tax was included, they told me one time that it wasn't and when I got to the counter I did not have to pay.

So, asking the airlines when you buy your ticket, isn't necessarily the correct answer.

I always tuck away what ever the departure tax will be next to my passport. Then, if I don't owe it - I spend it at the duty free shops.

We were there just this past February and flew AA & had to pay the departure tax, it was not included in our tickets. The only thing consistant at International is the rum punch!

Our January tickets were American Airlines f.f. award tickets, and we did need to pay the departure tax separately.
