It's basically an apartment complex with long time residents but the short term rental units I have been in are fine and the grounds seem to be well kept. You're a short walk from the beach and have no ammenities on site but that's why the price is lower.

Kerri- My wife and I stayed at the Coral Reef for 2 weeks in early March. Simon is correct, it is an apartment complex for both short and long term residents. The accomodations are very simple. I'd suggest a 2 bedroom, for more room, and try for one on the second level as you'll have a balcony. Kitchen has Table and Chairs, sink, microwave, fridge, and cook-top stove. No oven in ours, you might ask. The beds are HARD. Showers were hot once we held tight and made maintenace swap the hot-water tank thermostat. There is cable tv, no phone, and minimal seating. That was our main complaint was the minimal "comfortable" seating for hanging out in the evening. We had daily housekeeping service, but they won't change your bed linens unless you ask. Air conditioning worked too well. The pool at Banyan Bay is great. Thought it is 7-8 minutes walking south. The complex is NOT on the beach but across the road. Food at Banyan is OK but there are many better places. Have Simon provision for you prior to your arrival. Get some of his Grouper and snapper fillets. There is the "Sausage factory" close by. Just follow the signs. Great breakfast meats. Get your Coffee next door to the sausage place. I would strongly suggest you negociate a deal on a golf cart. It's a long ways to walk on a regular basis if you want to go into town. We used Moncho's but there are lots of places to rent. Stand up for yourself with the front desk staff of Banyan Bay. Since you're not staying there, they sometimes will just try to push you off. Any diving you do, use Protech. Peter and Brion will take care of you. Feel free to email me personally for specifics. yakivet@nwinfo.net Ken Lust, Yakima WA USA
