I am planning to bring some paperback books to give to a church on AC. Should I ask the vendor I'm buying from to write a receipt to the church that it's a donation? Will customs take them away thinking I want to sell them or anything?

should not be an issue at all, but never hurts to have a plan B (receipt).

We brought a suitcase full of books, crayons, and small toys when we came down in November to donate to the library. We didn't claim them on the custom sheet and didn't have a problem.

Books are supposed to enter Belize duty free. I just received a big box of books and paid duty only on the postage.

Why give it to 1 church, when you could donate it to the Library. Unless they are religion specific books.
The library is open to everyone on the island and might make more use of them. The Library holds different workshops for kids during summer time and would probably appreciate donations.

Just my thoughts...I am partial to the library since they do alot of good work with the kids.

Of Course they can! Anything to keep the kids occupied. The library give reading classes at times to the kids and they would be perfect.

Yep, Bzedoll, they are Jesus books.

But donations to the library/schools are a great idea too. I will certainly consider that for future trips.
