Yesterday I dove Hol Chan.
Right after entering the water I found a large Hermit Crab in a Conch shell feeding on a Conch of equal size. Saw only one very small live Conch otherwise.
There was a squadron of six Spotted Eagle Rays that flew through twice and six very large Tarpon in one area in addition to two smaller ones in another.
My daughter found some kind of file oysters in a crack in a large Brain Coral. I'll have to find it in one of my books.
Two of the Green Moray Eels were far enough out that they were seen by those snorkeling. There were more Groupers than usual and pretty good sized too. I got very close to a Spanish Hogfish that was well over a foot long. I love there green eyes!
The schools of various Snappers were large and the cave was packed full although not as many Dog Snappers as usual.
Viz was only about twenty feet so I had to concentrate on small critters or those close by.
As we went out there was a good tide and I dreaded the crawl back in but we lucked out and hit slack tide so had a nice long swim at five feet through the eel grass.
