Just spent a week with the folks at Protech Dive Center. We had a great week, thanks to Sara and others who led our dives. If anyone is looking for a dive center, I'd highly recommend these folks

Hey, Minnesotans, I'm from Afton, and I've used Protech in the past as well. I agree, they're very nice and possibly a bit more cautious than some of the other dive masters. (they're the British group, right?)
We now have a condo at Belizean Shores and so we've been using Belize Ocean Divers, also good. they certified my daughter, they're very flexible and go out in small groups. A bit more relaxed, possibly.

It's all about dive philosophy. "Flexible and relaxed". Does that equal devil-may-care? "Cautious" does that mean equal to taking the sport and inherent dangers seriously?

In the end, each individual diver is responsible for themselves and then their buddy. Proper training and individual attention to that training is key.

For clarity, I'm not saying anything negative about any dive shop. I am not familiar with them all.

A fish and a bird can fall in love, but where will they build their nest?

We found Protech to flexible and relaxed while making sure the important safety items were addressed. I think if you found them to be a bit up tight it was the group who used to be the divematers for Protech, but who are now on their own. We found their current staff to be easy to work with. They took us out in a group of two one afternoon and our group never had more than six. When the group got to large they split us up into two groups on seperate boats with our own divemaster so each group could be more relaxed and do what they wanted. We all would have fit on one boat so they didn't have any $ incentive to do what they did. They just wanted us all to have a good time. Now that is putting your customer first.

Smaller groups. Newer equipment, nice people. What more can I say? No one else I would use.
