Lenox, I don't know if it will help, but I have Travelocity looking for the best deals...I have it on my home page through Yahoo. It has always been better than the others for me (expedia, cheaptickets, orbitz and the others). Right now, AA has RT from Richmond, VA, through Miami at $424. What a deal. Calling AA directly gives me a $680 price. And, it searches every day, and notifies me when the fare changes. I am cautious to say it is the BEST, because I'm sure others have their OPINIONs, but it works well for me. We will be there in August, too. Travelocity searches all of the airlines, and AA and USair usually come up as the cheapest. Had terrible luck with USair to Belize on our last trip, won't do that again. Good luck.

My opinion - do what S&S does, use Travelocity, Orbitz, Expedia, etc to watch the fares. Then go directly to the airline websites - 99.99% of the time the fares will be $5-$15 cheaper as there are no extra service fees attached. Web purchases, almost always, are cheaper than calling the airlines, although I do know of a recent situation where a friend was able to talk a c/s rep into the web pricing and even modified the dates, which IIRC, were unavailable at that $ on web.

My experience, too, has been that booking 30-45 days out has landed the best fares (see other threads on this subject).

Sad it costs so much to fly these days. We have friends that wanted to visit in sept from canada but $800 a ticket is too steep.

Anyone ever gone from here to Jamacia?? and have an idea of pricing?

For the best prices flying from Canada, try cheapticketscanada.com or selloffvacations.com.

I've had good results using these 3:
Kayak.com
Sidestep.com
Mobissimo.com

A neighbor just used Mobissimo to find the best fare for a last-minute flight to Madrid (family health emergency). He got a fare that was $500 less than anyone else's (although still not cheap -- last minute seldom is).

Sidestep always notifies me when a DFW to BZE fare is listed...then I go directly to AA.com for the cheapest price. For some reason my notification through AA.com got messed up years ago and I can't seem to fix it. I'm currently price shopping for Feb. 2007, myself - I wish you good hunting!
