Planning a group trip next April. We have secured our tickets, but a couple of our friends have yet to book. Looks like prices are up right now (I assume the holiday booking impacts even next year). I was wondering how late others have snagged a flight from NYC or Chicago and stil got a good fare. The rates now are near $600...will they dip again...hoping some regular travelers might have a tip. Hope all is well in sunny SP can't wait for the trip.

i was in SP in May and i booked my tickets in i think early April?!?! and i got a decent deal under $1000 from Canada!

$600 sounds pretty good right now, I know I paid a lot less last Feb. than I did this Feb. trip & a lot more than $600

generally 30-45 days out has worked consistently for ages, in my case anyway.

Feb dates frequently depend upon Spring/Winter break (at least here in the NE) where kids get a winter break as well as the traditional around Easter.

Taxes, fuel surcharges & security fees are very high these days. Very few bargains out there, unless a good sale comes along. If your dates are around Easter '07 (6-15 April), the rates are already very high and will only go up as availability goes down. As of March 31 very few wholesalers and consolidators will even be able to offer bulk "discounted" fares any longer - the airlines are not giving contracts any more except to a few select wholesalers.
