We are anxious to learn of any information reguarding Femi & Joaquin and their family and also of Femi's parents the Ramon Reyes family, owners of the Tropical Paradise Hotel on Caye Cualker. Please pass on to them that we have been very worried about all of them. Don & Lynn Rutherford of Seattle, WA, USA [email protected]

Mr. Reyes was the first one to get a call out on the cell phone during the hurricane, if I recall correctly.

A picture of the bar area and restaurant is in the hurricane portion of this message board. It was not a closeup but the building looked intact.

Since they have no electricity yet on Caulker and the phones are limited to the phone office I have yet to receive an email from Tropical Paradise.

I am taking it as no news is good news. Well, you know what I mean.

Hunter: Thanks for the update. Ask Femi to give us a call or E-mail us when things get back to something that approaches normal. The best to all of our friends on Caye Caulker. Don & Lynn

I just returned from Caye Caulker. Electricity, phone and water have been restored to the front of the island. The internet cafe on Front Street (Cyber Cafe Caye Caulker)is back up and running like before. Many guesthouses and hotels are open, as are many eateries. The stores have food, etc. the clean up is well underway. The island is getting back on track and really could use the business generated from tourism. Don't be afraid to go to Caye Caulker, you will be treated like a celebrity, believe me! One other thing to note, many places have temporary phone numbers and the old phone number will just ring and ring. One way to get a message to Caye Caulker is to email it to [email protected] that's the internet cafe on Front Street (Caye Caulker Cyber Cafe). Moran, the owner is posting messages on a community message board that he has just started. So, hopefully this will help anyone who has been frustrated by not being able to get in touch with people on the island.
