Hello!

I haven't been to Belize in 5yrs,and desire some business ideas! What do you seasoned visitors think Belize needs? I am a female and would like to know about safety issues and crime, dating(are there any nice American
expats)? I am tired of this Buffalo weather and have been looking for quite a long time for the perfect spot to dive and live!!!! [Linked Image]

Hi Spencer!!! If you have the cash...AC is open for lots of things. What are you interested in? We just bought Cannibals and will be in AC Jan. 15th. I met lots of great people there in the last part of Oct. Everyone was friendly. The streets seemed safe to me. I'm sure other people who go there all the time can give you lots of input. Hope you find something to fill your niche!!!
I think a women's clothing store that carried clothes beyond the size 13 would go over well, as I heard several of the locals saying there was nothing to fit them and they either had to go to Belize City or the states to find anything. Same thing with sandals. Hope this helps.
Jan

How about a bowling alley? 5 lanes, use coconuts for balls. Get a ll the locals on nightly leagues and get the tourists when they are looking for some entertainment. Call it Smoke-a-Bowl. tee hee.

I agree with Orionhunter.. My friend and I had discussed the idea of a clothing store to fit the locals. Seems like everything you try on was made in India or some place where people are really small!! I'm not huge, but a nice sundress that fits would be great!! I don't think anyone sells a size 14 on the island. I know for a fact that a lot of people do go to the states to buy clothes. It would be nice to get a t-shirt, skirt, or sundress from your vacation that fits, don't you think?? Go for it!!

Congrats --great location!!!!!!

I noticed it on a few realitors windows & sites.

Are you gonna change it?

Did you compare it to others for sale??

What the asking price for it and others? (and selling if you are willing to disclose).

Great idea on the clothing store, here I thought it was just me not being able to fit in anything. Go for it.

Spencer,
Man....you really need to do some homework and I suggest a trip that would involve more than a week in Belize, and not just on the Caye, but in Belmopan. Issues such as immigration, residency, and labor need to be investigated. I'm sure that the same laws prevail on Ambergis as they do on the mainland, and in that case, opening up a retail establishment may need some formal approvals....check it out...don't go off half cocked!

Just a reminder: There's an old adage down in Belize that goes "If you want to make a small fortune in Belize, bring a large fortune with you..."
Do your homework VERY carefully, and don't get roped in by the sand, smiles, sunshine and a lot of smoke being blown up your *ss. The individual who suggested going to Belmopan was spot-on; find out the hidden costs and viability before you invest a red penny...you'll thank us later, for sure!
Oh, and Suzan, great bizniz idea: What do we use for pins???
