We are trying to get ready for a dive trip in January on the Nekton and have several questions. First, do we need to use full wet suits or will a shorty do for our dives? What is the water temperature at 40 feet? Which is the best place to stay...The Great House or The Fort Street Guesthouse? Any great places to eat in Belize City before we leave on our dive trip? Which is the best cave tubing tour? Any other suggestions?

Hi, I can't help you with the diving questions but we would highly recommend the Fort Street Guest House! Hugh and Teresa are wonderful hosts and they have a great restaurant right there as well. Delicious meals and a nice wine list. There is also a place down the street, the name has MERMAID in it for more great meals. Carole and Bob

I STAYED ONE NIGHT AT FOUR FORT STREET IN 1993, and it was very clean and quaint. we had to share the bathroom. the food was good too. i give it a thumbs up.

oh, and i dont dive, but most people opt for a shorty, my husband only wore a t-shirt and swim trunks. if you go for a far dive, bring a sweatshirt for the boat ride.

A shorty should be fine unless you tend to get cold quickly. I wear a Henderson full body wetsuit (3mm) and It's perfect...but I get cold easily.
