I would like to get married in Belize on a Mayan ruin/pyramid. The more I see of Ambergris Caye...the more I don't think I like that area that much (too open). Does anyone have any suggestions???

I would be bringing up to 50 people with me if I had my wedding there.

Thanks in advance!!!

You will need to go to the mainland. I can speak for Placencia as I have recently returned from Maya Beach. Marti & Eldon held a wedding at their Singing Sands Inn, and it was fabulous, although smaller than 50. 50 gueast could be accomodated in walking distance of the Singing Sands, although that many would be a huge undertaking for any resort on Placencia[i don't know them all--maybe Luba Hati is big enough] Maya Beach would give guests a range of lodging choices, and is very romantic, yet ruins, snorkling, diving and the rest are all available.
If Maya setting is a must, then maybe north to Altun Ha/Maruba lodge or inland to San Ignacio.
I know Maya Beach would be lovely for a wedding and is diverse enough to please all but the most picky traveler.

Hi,
I have never heard of anyone getting married on a Mayan Ruin in Belize, but not sure if that is because you can't or just no one has thought of it before. There are many different choices of places to stay. I can probably help you narrow down the places, but have lots of questions. Feel free to email me at [email protected]

Big Frank (and anyone else that has some valuable info):

I checked out Maruba Lodge and it is absolutely *perfect*...however, not only can't they accomodate my party (if all decide to go) but they are too pricy for some of my guests. So, I would like to use Maruba Lodge, and then have an alternative, cheaper place too that is nearby. Any suggestions???

Also, does anyone know of any wedding planners in that area???

thanks!

Every one says that BarbsBelize is the best travel coordinator. If you plan to get married and keep your sanity, TRUST ME, do not be the travel arranger. choose some one to facilitate all the details.
I believe that Maruba is a medium long boat ride from AC. What if all stayed in AC and cruised over for the wedding.
I'm guessing that AC may satisfy the widest tastes. While the wedding is "The bride's special day" The guests are spending their money[I assume]

AC is short for Ambergris Caye. If I wanted to keep all my guests happy I would go there as it offers every thing from exclusive expensive to on the beach hotels.

the deal breaker could be airfare. Most "rack" rates are close to $1000 round trip.

The best place to get married would be Shark Alley......maybe the nurse sharks will eat you before you can say, "I DO!"
In other words there is no BEST PLACE to get married anywhere! As my dear dad always said, "Marriage at it's best is BAD." Always count on Zeke to brighten up the board.

Oh! Ambergeis...no, that is *definately* where I don't want to be. That is what started this whole questioning bit.

So are there any other decent resorts/hotels near Maruba?

Oh, and Cap'n...you just haven't found the "right one" yet. [Linked Image]

Good luck!
