To all the divers out there:
A group of us are planning a dive trip in late June/early July for possibly 7- 10 days.

1) Has anyone stayed on Turneffe Atoll or at Manta Resort? How were the accomodations? food? bugs?

2) We would like to do about 3 dives a day so is it worth it to stay on an atoll? I know most places require a week's stay.

3) Toward the end of our trip we'd like to see other parts of the country (forest, ruins, etc.) - Can you recommend a place which is a central location for diving and doing day trips? (We don't want to be lugging around all our gear with us).

4) Would Barb from Barb's Belize be helpful to us?

I know that Barb will listen and hear what you are wanting and do her best to arrange. She is not "connected" to anything IN Belize. I have heard only positive things about Barb.

Ambergris Caye is perfect for accessibility to diving and day trips. I would contact Amigos Del Mar to ask about their dive trips and Daniel Nunez for jungle/Mayan tours.
Barb has an excellent reputation and could probably put together the whole thing.

out to the turneffe area, then its easy to go on tours also from San pedro...

well after relaying this info to the group, it looks like a majority is gung ho on a "dive as much as we can" trip. so with that said we're now looking into staying a week at one of the atolls.

anyone ever stay at manta resort or blackbird caye resort? what are the +/- of doing so? will we be getting our money's worth?
