Hi!

Have learned so much by viewing this board. Would like to book a Jungle/Reef Adventure - 4 days at Blancanaeux Lodge in Cayo and 4 days at the Victoria House in Ambergris Caye. Any information on a reputable tour operator? Thanks!

We booked the same vacation, expect for hidden valley inn instead of blancaneaux, with Lost World Adventures. You can visit their site at www.lostworldadventures.com. It was absolutely awesome...all of our tours were completely taken care of...we felt like VIPs!

Why do you need a tour operator? If you can get airfare on your own, then booking those high-end lodges might be cheapest on your own. Book tours directly through the hotels. That is if you can get airfare.

When booking airfare on your own, it isn't necessarily cheaper online...expedia, travelocity, etc. Travel agencies that work with consolidators are usually the cheapest route. Try www.belize-vacations.com for discounted airfare. Also, agree with getting tour operators through resorts/hotel that you are staying at. This is usually the best resource for dependable, quality operations.

we did a surf and turf at end of Jan and had a great time. on AC we stayed at matachica - a fabulous place. amazing location and arty bungalows. and food was fabulous. nice to have that after a long day at the reef. also recommend capricorn, elvi's, jambel jerk, etc. per the other postings. and lots of sunscreen!

in cayo we stayed at duplooys. fantastic location for getting out and about. blancaneaux is nice (we had lunch there) but not very central to ruins, etc. we had our own car (rephrase - toy car gio tracker?!) and found that to be a lifesaver as we saved $$ on tours by not having to be picked up at the resort and meeting in town instead. also liked having options of eating where we wanted and shopping where/when we wanted. see my separate posting on San Ignacio for details. it was great! enjoy...

forgot to mention another moneysaver - fly from AC to the METRO airport (not international) and the fare is $52 Blz, something like half of what it would have been if you flew into international. rental car people met us there and it was a breeze to get to/from...
