The Inter American Development Bank has approved 14 million
dollars for Belize, to assist with the country's land registration
system. This program is designed to secure property rights,
expand land administration services to 6 district offices, and
improve land use planning and environmental protection. More
than 20 thousand people living in rural and urban areas are
expected to benefit from more secure land tenure and related
services. According to a release from the IDB, land transactions
will become more efficient and property tax revenues will
increase. This latest IDB loan is for a 25-year term, with a
four-year grace period.
