I just got an e-mail from Ian Anderson's Caves Branch stating that they will be closed all of September. We want to stay on the mainland and go cave tubing/rapelling/hiking, etc. after our stint on AC in the beginning of September. Know of any place we can do this that's not closed???? I'm very sad Cave's Branch is closed. We wanted to do the honeymoon thing in the Black Hole. Bummer...
We also would like to go to Tikal. We will be leaving AC on Sept. 3 (most likely) and we will be leaving for home on Sept. 8, which means we have about 4 days to play with. What do you guys suggest??? This is a honeymoon, but we're adventures as well and don't want to spend a ton of money - would like to keep our accomodations less than $75/night (but we're willing to splurge if it's truly worth it). HELP???!!!!

Check out Banana Bank at www.bananabank.com and see if that interests you. They offer another cave trip along with Ian's and can set up Tikal for you. If you want more info about Banana Bank, feel free to email me direct at [email protected] I was just in Belize for 2 weeks and covered the west, looked at most of the resorts while there.

Or better yet, just stay in or around San Ignacio town. You've got a choice of many other cave trips close by and easy to find guided day trips to Tikal for 85.0pp and up. San ignacio is better located for the activities you mentioned.

Or at Jaguar Paw, close to the Zoo. They offer cave tubing in the same system of underground river caves as Caves Branch does. The 1/2 day trip is 40.0pp and you can overnight here as well. More posh with ac, etc.
