I am planning my honeymoon to Belize for April 2002. Pleasure Cove Lodge looks like the place to go. Is it as good as it sounds? Is it stuffy and snobby? And how much does it cost to fly to Belize? Please help! I'm really lost!!

For starters, the airfare to Belize depends on where you are flying from.

There's nothing wrong with Pleasure Cove, but for most people it would not be in the top 10 or 20 as honeymoon accommodations.

Among the places that offer a romantic and special settings for honeymoons would be:

Inn at Robert's Grove (the deluxe suites), Placencia
Hamanasi (the suites), Hopkins
Blananeaux Lodge (the villas), Mountain Pine Ridge
Five Sisters, Mountain Pine Ridge
Ek 'Tun, Macal River, Cayo
Victoria House, San Pedro
Mata Chica, North Ambergris
Cayo Espanto, near Ambergris
(Portofino on North Ambergris is positioning itself as a honeymoon destination, but it is not yet open and it's too soon to say how it will turn out)

I would second Lan and add Hamanasi for the Treehouses (not only the suites)... very private and romantic...

Turnbun here -
The one night we stayed at Five Sisters was by far the most romantic night we spent in Belize (on our honeymoon as well). Make sure you get a room with a bathtub - it's right in the room! It was a beautiful place, especially since we were the ONLY people at the resort when we were there!
I'll have a trip report up soon....
