We are thinking of bringing our 4 kids (8, 10, 12, & 14) to Belize this July. I would love some colorful, genuine, "in-the-know" advice from locals. I am looking for TROPICAL, BEAUTIFUL WATER and NICE BEACHES. I want to stay in a small cottage or hut right on the beach. We like to walk, explore, scuba dive, snorkel, eat where the locals eat, shop along the roadside, walk for miles and be charmed, learn about the local people and culture, make world-wide friends. We want to avoid big hotels, bus tours, time share propositions, and any kind of schedule.

I realize July is off-season. Does that mean 100 mph winds, guaranteed? 100 million mosquitos?

I'd love to hear from you locals! THANKS!

haha... no, July doesn't mean 100 MPH winds and mosquitoes. The two are mutually exclusive! [Linked Image]

July means hot. I know that some people think there is an "off" season on Ambergris, but I don't. Every season has it's good things and bad things. We were there last July. It might blow up a rain cloud, which will last for about 15 minutes, and then be gone. We loved it. Being from Oregon, warm rain that is short-lived is certainly no problemo for me!

Check out our website, and if it is something you might enjoy, give me a buzz.

Are you looking for something in AC or somewhere else in Belize? There is always Robert's Grove in Placencia, Tobacco Caye or South Water Caye in the South.

Hi, trina I would suggest the Orange Walk area. There is a lot to offer there. In particular there is the Lamanai Outpost lodge that offers exactly what you're looking for. You can contact me if you need more info at [email protected]

I brought my two sons with us two years ago. They were 12 and 15 at the time. They had the time of thier lives and still talk about it and share pictures with friends. It was the best family vacation we ever had. I highly recommend it. We stayed at Paradise Villas and found it perfect for us. There is a small house on the beach called Brianna's House, that might be perfect for the 6 of you. You might check to see if it accomodates six. It's a nice location and cute as a button. Affordable I think too.
