Hi All,
I have heard a lot about Belikin in Belize. I am from Canada and wonder if the have Rye Whisky, Vodka, and coca cola. Thanks all.

They do but you still need to ask for Canadian Rye Whiskey. They also have vodka, usually Absolute but once I've drunk all that, erm, I mean all of that is gone, they've got some really wicked stuff that starts with an S. I don't think I ever did learn to pronounce it, though I did learn to drink it anyway.

Hi

I'm from the Great White North too and don't like to pay the price of Rye at the bars while in Belize. If you ask for Whiskey you'll get Bourbon!

Anyways, I always bring a bottle of my own along. Most places have vodka.

When you planning on going? I'll be there over Easter break this year

seashell,

You are probably mixing up the domestic brands "Czar" and "Lerskaa". Lerskaa is almost palatable, and can be consumed with relative ease in the waning hours of a real island bender.

Czar, on the other hand, is truly ghastly, barely fit to clean the battery terminals on one's golf cart. HOWEVER, if circumstances require it can be "dressed" up a bit by running it through double coffee filters twice. That removes the larger of the strange particulate matter floatng in the bottle. Now you must keep in mind that I've only been told these things, certainly not a recital of personal experience. If you value your future health under no circumstances should the Belizian gin be consumed. There are not the words to describe it.

Choochoo, I leave open the possibility that you are right, that the vodka was Lersska, or whatever. But having said that, I'm still reasonably sure that it was something with a red label and a real long name starting with S. I'd swear I saw it at the vendor's here just last week. I saw the bottle and was so surprised. I'd assumed it was something that we wouldn't have on the shelves here. LOL

Now we also have to keep in mind that the condition I was in at the time I was drinking this vodka in Belize, may have clouded my perceptions. I was so thirsty!! [Linked Image]

Choo Choo: gotta love those buzz words: "a real island bender". I like that.
