We are interested in sailing around Belize but are wondering if would be better to stay on there instead. After reading many posts, and checking out the internet, it sounds like there are many things/tours to do and that we might be on land more than sea. Since we have never been there but plan on going for anniversary/birthday (big 4-0), we would be interested on all input. We plan on going in 2003. If anyone has chartered or bareboated, we would be interested to know what company you went with, what you thought of the boat, etc. And very much interested in someone who has done both. Other than a few people who charter a boat they own or live on, there are only two main charter operations in Belize -- TMM in San Pedro and The Moorings in Placencia. There was a charter operation in Punta Gorda but last time I was there it was not operating.

If you have the time, you might want to split your trip -- part on a charter and part traveling around the mainland.
