Where did you stay in the Jungle on your last trip? and what is the link to your photos of the jungle?
I've tried to search for those posts, but can't seem to find them.
Thanks to anyone who has this information.

Her last trip she stayed at DuPlooy's in the Cayo District. I stayed there as well the summer of 2000. This place is AWESOME. It's right on the Macal River, so canoes etc. are available. You can take a trip up river and they will pick you up. They have numerous cave tubing, horse back riding, and ruins tours available. All are fun. We took a day trip to Tikal in Guatamala and had the times of our lives. Once you've seen these ruins, nothing else compares! Our tour guides and escorts were 1st rate and top notch. The rooms we stayed in were bungalos and were so nice. There is a boardwalk that connects them, and it wanders through the jungle. The jungle noises, flora and fauna were incredible. There was a botanical garden on site when we were there. I'm not sure if it still is. My sons saw nesting iguanas, enormous toads, (even caught one)and those wierd little rodents that some Belizians eat........ They put fruit out into the jungle on a pully to attract the birds.... macaws and toucans are not uncommon. There is a family style restaurant on site, and the food was outstanding. Little Guatamalan ladies cooked everything homemade and the daily menus were quite nice. Do a search for DuPlooy's on the net. It should pop right up. I HIGHLY recommend it. Debbie

The botanical garden is still at duPlooy's, along with the orchid house, both special projects of Ken duPlooy who died last year.
duPlooy's is also now operating the Rainforest Medicine Trail (formerly Panti Trail) near Chaa Creek.

Wow! I stopped in there while I was there, picking up others for airport shuttle.... It was quite interesting and I was disappointed I couldn't make a more in depth investigation. the lady we picked up was studying rainforest medicine, and had me spellbound all the way back to the airport. I even purchased a book that was about a VERY old medicine man that had taught this type of medicine up until very recently. It was documenting his ancient knowledge and skill. Be damned if I can remember the title or the author at the moment. Fascinating read. Debbie

The book might have been Sastun, My Apprenticeship with a Maya Healer by Rosita Arvigo with Nadine Epstein. It's about Don Elijio Panti, who died in 1996 at over age 100.

THAT'S THE ONE!!! Thank you Lan. It is a wonderful book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My husband bought it for me for my birthday, upon the recommendation of the woman in the car with us. debbie

HELP please!
Looks like we are booking a bit late in the game. we are traveling with a 7 and a 4 year old. Both good travelers. The Jungle options that we are interested in seem booked.
Does anybody have information on Jaguar Paw and Windy Hill???
We are told that we need to decide quickly so as not to lose the spot at Jaguar Paw.
Are there other options we should be looking at? We tried DuPlooy (full) and cant get hold of Ektun??
MANY THANKS!!!!

i have stayed at jp twice and loved it both times although i don't think the rooms have 2 beds in them. you will be in different rooms if that matters. you can do cave floats right there on the property. great birding for toucans around 5 am. lots of pets for the kiddos to play with. even a pig farm guarded by mother goose halfway down the road from the hwy. no smell just cute piglets. gay
