ON CANADIAN TV
After months of investigation, CBC-TV's current
affairs program, Disclosure, will air its report on
Belize's proposed Chalillo dam on Tuesday, April 2,
at 9 p.m. "Paradise be dammed," investigates the
Chalillo dam controversy and the Canadian players
behind it.


To research and film the report, the "Paradise be
dammed" team went to Belize's Macal River Valley
and met with Belize officials, proponents and critics
of the dam. The team also interviewed Fortis CEO
Stanley Marshall, AMEC VP David Paterson,
CIDA official Robert Derouin, Probe International's
Gráinne Ryder, Belize Zoo's Sharon Matola, and
Ambrose Tillet, a former executive with Belize Electricity.

Thanks, Marty. I'll be watching it! If I hadn't been checking the board, I probably wouldn't have noticed it was on. It embarrasses me that people from my country are doing this,'cause they know they would never get away with it at home.

Marty, thanks so much! I dont' know if my local stations will get this program, but I'll check. Can you tell us what the current status is of this dam project? Have they halted construction of the road, at least until further notice?

The piece on the dam was one of several that they were airing tonight, so it was only about twenty minutes long. It sounds like the usual government mutual backscratching that goes on up here. Maybe this will get a few Canadians ticked off that their tax dollars meant for foreign aid are going to stay in the pockets of some well-heeled Canadian corporations.

Time all of US got together to FIGHT this foolish and greedy project.....being on line means more than surfing....it's a great way to LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT YOU THINK

Something simple we can all do is go to the site of the Belize Audubon Society and go to the guestbook. There you can make PUBLIC comments regarding THEIR SUPPORT of this terrible project which flies (pardon the expression) in the face of everything they are supposed to stand for. The destruction of one of the last habitats for the almost extinct SCARLET MACAW is terrible.
Let THEM KNOW
