Looks like my wife and I are finally going to get to AC the middle of October. Can anyone suggest the best place to stay in San Pedro or very near? So far we have picked the Aqua Marina.
Any help deciding will be greatly appreciated.
Is staying downtown the best idea for the first visit?

Lots of personal preferences among people about location. We like south of town where it is quieter, but still a 15-ish minute beach walk to town; there are plenty of restaurants and bars south of town, also. Caribbean Villas has been our favorite since it opened. Only 10 suites/rooms on 3 acres of land with gardens and bird sanctuary, hammocks, hot tubs, wonderful & caring staff, long pier with swimming and snorkeling at the end and great beach. All accommodations are beachfront. Ask for a discount from posted prices if you book directly. Whichever hotel or resort you choose, we think you will have a great time!

i have stayed in town & north & south. staying on the north end you have to rely on boatsto get u there. i do not like staying in town, just my opinion, many do. i prefer the south, as it is secluded but a fun 20 min golfcart ride into town. there are many good places to shop/eat out of town too. make your first trip an adventure!!
my choice (ok, group groan) is by far caribe island resort. it has seclusion, gorgeous beach, a bar/rest, pool, A/C, cable tv, free bikes & kayaks, suites with kitchens, beautiful views.

Go North if you want seclusion. Who cares about the water taxi or golf carts. If you go to AC, plan to walk. But by all means...... GO NORTH!
We stayed @ Cp. Morgan's and were very happy. Great people and just 10 minutes to town.

My opinion is if you are staying on a tropical island you need to stay in a thatch roof cabana. You can stay in huge concrete bunkers in any US or Canadian city. My choice on Ambergris Caye would be Ramon's Village. The seaview and gardenview individual cabanas (casitas) are great and the air-conditioner is cold. Exotic pool & grounds, great bar and close to everything. I stayed there last week. Get your golf cart from Cholo's. On the mainland stay at my place. Corozal Bay Inn in Corozal Town. www.corozalbayinn.com Have fun

Doug P, Have you started building cabanas yet? We've booked our airline and will be in town April 1st. There may be as many as 8 of us and we'll need lodging (4 rooms). Brian [email protected]
