You are joking right?? $10.00US/night for a room? Caye Caulker would be more of a backpacker/budget destination but I think you still have to count on more than that for a room per night.

I have no idea what you guys are talking about -I reckon on spending around six dollars a day and I have a wonderful time-do not listen to the animals-just come and party-san Pedro is a huge bargain against other holiday destinations

Short, where in San Pedro can you eat for U.S. $1.50? Is that one hot dog at the hot dog stand in the park? If you cook you might be able to make it on $5 a day, not eating meat or fresh fruit and vegetables. A diet of rice and beans, and tortillas gets old real fast to someone who hasnt been raised on that kind of diet.
I've seen night owl's posts on other message boards and he's getting the same advice I'm giving him here: Guatemala is much cheaper than Belize. I was in San Marcos, on Lake Atitlan and could have stayed for $5 U.S. a night at a little hotel and eaten for $3 a day. I didn't, I stayed at the $20 a night place and spent $5 a day for food.
