hi wonderwoman and ny gal...i live just outside of new orleans...ash wednesday falls on february 25, 2004...mardi gras day would be on the 24th of february this year...in new orleans(& surrounding areas) the parades and the "krewe parties (or balls)" begin 2 weeks prior to the "big day"....the first "krewe" rolls out on wednesday, february 11th, 2004 here... and pretty much, anything goes until ash wednesday....not sure how it works in san pedro, but i did bring a little mardi gras cheer with me when i was there last month....hope this helps a bit....kerry

Carnival is in February in San Pedro, Independence Day celebrations are in September... Carnival is where we paint each other!!! p.s. carnival usually begins on Saturday and ends Tuesday night, four full days of fun...adults usually paint on Tuesday night, so don't wear anything you like.
