I should probably delete my previous post, huh klc? It's just that I have such a feeling of sadness whenever somebody's husband, wife, child dies for our country. Those families do not want to even think that their loved ones died without our gratitude. How would anyone feel losing a loved one in combat? I should get off of my soapbox......my Dad died in Vietnam, and so many others did then and since. Such a sacrifice, and it blows my mind that so many folks do not take the time to acknowlege it. God bless the Vets.

I agree DB. I don't always support what our government does, (rarely) but I AM grateful for everything the people that serve and protect us do - everyday.

db..... Thank you for starting this thread. So many go by their daily way, without a thought of why they can do it.

Something that amazes me... Having a rare day off during the week I went to the gym in the early afternoon. When the staff was surprised to see me at that time of day, I responded that I had a day off for the holiday. Three out of four responded with a blank look and said "what holiday"? Simply amazing...

Like most veterans, I was working yesterday. Unless you work at a bank, or have a government job, it's not really a "holiday".

My point was that it is amazing so many people didn't know it was Veteran's Day. Not that some people had the day off.

Don't you believe it about banks. I am a banker and we all were present and accounted for yesterday on Veteran's Day. And we had LOTS of clients who came in expecting that we were open. We haven't been closed on Veteran's Day for years. The stock market was open and so were most banks. I don't agree with it and I don't think it's respectful of our veterans (Semper Fi - I'm a Marine brat whose father served both in WWII and Korea) but the fact is, our clients complained when we closed on Vet's Day. Personally, I say let them complain - and let them be ashamed for complaining instead of honoring the people who laid their lives on the line for their right to complain. But management on high didn't think my point was particularly valid I guess.
