Does anyone know if there is a rental company that will allow you to rent a vehicle at the International Airport with a return in Belize City?

Yes Hertz have autos at the airport and they will pick it up in Belize City. We have used Hertz several times with always excellent prompt sevice. If you use a visa platnium charge card to rent the car,the card will cover the extra $12.00 or so a day for the insurance needed.

Most of the car rental places at the airport do have Belize City locations as well and will allow you to return the car to either location -- Budget, Hertz, Crystal and others.

i used lewis auto rental. they pick you up at teh airport & drive you to bz city to do the paperwork at their office. then you drive from there.

you return the suv to their office in bz city, and then he drove us (free) to municipal so we got the cheaper tropic flight.

they were very accomodating. i have an email addy if you want it.

We have used Thrifty the last several times we have been in Belize and been very pleased. Their rates can't be beat. We pick up the car at the airport. We usually go to one of the Cayes for the second part of our trips. Thrifty (Germaine) has met us at the Water Taxi to pick up the car. We have also dropped it off at the Thrifty office in Belize City and they will give us a ride (at no charge) to where ever we want to go.

I usually email JoEllen directly at Thrifty and get the best rates.

I use Lewis Auto for my clients. [email protected]

They generally run about $75/day for a Geo Tracker type 4WD or $95/day for an Isuzu Trooper type (includes CDW & insurance - 8% tax additional). Discounts after the 4th day. I have only had 1 or 2 clients have any problems with them in 5 yrs of renting through them.

I agree with PFuller, We searched the prices of all the rental car agencies and couldn't find a better deal than Thrifty, I will use them again.

I agree about Thrifty too. We originally reserved a Jimny for $55 per day but they upgraded us to a Trooper at no extra charge because of heavy rains. They were VERY accomodating about dropping off the rental at the Municipal airport - they even suggested it. We will definitely use Thrifty again!
