Hi you guys,
My friends are coming down to BZ with their 3 children, 5,7 and 9. I need ideas!! I have forgotten how children are at 5-- do you think cave tubing would be OK?
Thanks!

My five year old nephew probably couldn't cave tube but my 9 year old niece could.

Just take them to the playground. Give them some buckets and shovels. Give them some snorkel gear. Have them bring down some cheap plastic floating mattresses, floating rings(tubes) and then when they leave they can give them to some local kids. Have some beach balls around for tossing and kicking.

The nephew just got back from a family vacation in Mexico. He went for a long walk down the beach with grandpa every day. They would climb some rocks too. He loved playing in the pool, having his face painted and organized games and activites for youngsters.

His little cousin (same age) can't get enough of riding around in (or driving) his grandma and grandpa's golf cart.

Make sure there's lots, and lots of juice available.

Hi,

We have been down before twice with our son when he was age 4 and age 6. We are returning with him in March at age 8. Each trip was different of course and I look forward to him being able to experience some new things. Depends on the child but here goes....we took him on the trip to Lamanai, he loved it. ( we will go again this time), snorkeling, FISHING!! He adored the fishing!! We went numerous times and he loved every aspect of it from catching the sardines as bait to hauling in the abundant catch. Bike rides , the golf cart!! lazy days on the beach and kayak rides along the shore line with his dad. Everyone was so nice to him and treated him so kindly it is the reason we go back and feel so comfortable. Oh and of course ice cream at Maneli's...<spelling?> Hope they enjoy it....

Lock em' up with Butch's parrot and let the parents have a good time! I used to cage my kids and now when they serve time in jail it really does not bother them so much. It builds character! There gotta be worse things then being caged up on Caribe Island.

If they are interested in a tour down San Ignacio way, book it with Patrick Warrior. He is awesome with kids (has a 6 & 10 yr old himself). My kids love him. He will do anything they like - very custom and can gear it to kids. you can email him at [email protected] or call him at 606-7714. They may be able to do the cave tubing - depends on how the river is running. It is usually very slow & calm unless there have been rains. I would say the 5 yr old could do it if they are comfortable in the water & can swim. How about Barton Creek Cave in the canoes if not the tubing?
