bywarren - I knew we had more in common than just the Quad-Cities and Whitey's! As a Marine brat, I grew up on stories of Chesty Puller. My Dad, who is now 82, was presented with the Navy cross by Chesty Puller himself while both were serving in the South Pacific in WWII. (Yes, I'm lucky to have been born after the kind of fighting he experienced there and the level of heroism it took just to stay alive.) Dad has some great (and by-and-large) believable stories about his time there and his proud association with Chesty Puller. Haven't heard the name in awhile. Glad there are those out there who haven't forgotten.
