question for you....thought i had everything worked out, but from reading here, i have found a few changes.... i am making my "move" on may 23rd. i have read about people bringing "laptop computers" with them on the plane....i haven't been able to find anyone that has brought a "desktop computer" with them, which is my plan. i have all the original packaging, but it's all separate pieces....monitor, brain, copier/scanner/fax. just curious what to expect going thru customs...should i claim each piece separately???or just state that i'm bringing in my computer???
also have a small stereo and personal cd's that i want to bring along....i have read that there is something (i believe from marty?) in the works about the import duty on cd's, etc, being lifted in the near future, and only a sales tax charged. have no problem with duties and taxes, but would like to know a little bit of what to expect...just want to be prepared, as i am traveling solo with my cat "jc" and he has to be inspected as well as my other property! any help would be appreciated....kerry

that's right, you are getting ready to make the move kerry, I am jealous! I had a visual of you struggling to carry all of this through the airport! hahahaha I cannot help you at all, but just wanted to wish you well on your exciting adventure. Maybe if you posted it on the "living in belize" thread, somebody would have the answer. Let us know how you are doing there.

Kerry, Glad to see your time is short for your next adventure. Are you still going to stay in Corazol? We had no problems carrying 70lbs of glass and torches (at no cost). Of course we did have return tickets 60 days out. We hauled almost all of it back, not one of my better ideas. It was just to hot to blow glass most of the time.

We took our dog - many emails and finally a phone call to get the permit. When we arrived at BZE the permit was not there, but thankfully I had an email saying we had been issued one (they like paper-get something). Took a bit longer but was just practice on being patient. Be sure to get the USDA form from your Vet. so you can get your cat back into the states. The Belize folks seemed to like it also - more paper. Enjoy!!
