Hey guys! Another question since you have all been sooo helpful...

30 year old active and spoiled hubster and wife, 2 full days in April in Placenia, love very small groups or solo touring (more authentic experience)...

What do you recommend that we do in our 2 days there? Whale sharks? Monkey river (are there really monkeys, husband loves monkeys!)?

Thanks!

Whale sharks are only there for a couple weeks max, usually in early June or late May I believe. We missed them both years...sigh. Monkey river, yes has monkey, howler monkeys. They make a terrific noise. Placencia is a cool place. Got hit pretty hard by Hurricane Iris, not sure how much they've rebuilt. But it's a magical place, not doubt about it. Recommend Seaspray if you like budget accomodations. For luxury, try Inn at Robert's grove or Turtle Inn.

Placencia has a couple of great bars, very easy to spend 2 days at one. ML

Go diving, if you do, 'cause there's lots to see. If not, snorkeling is good, too. Eat the spicy fried chicken or mega burrito at Cozy Corners, or the lobster quesadilla at Pickled Parrot, or snook at The Galley. The bars are all good, and there's a great Italian ice cream joint down near the fishing pier.

Have fun, Mary

Stay at Westwinds. Right on the beach in Placincia..Try breakfast at Omars or De Thatch Cafe..Both have great fresh Orange Juice. Go back to the hotel walk right out the front and plop your rear in the hammocks under George's Palapa...Watch the beach, We saw dolphins several times while we were there..If the breeze is light Make George rig up the Hobie cat ..Go for a sail.Lunch at the Cozy Corner.. The Fried Chicken really is good.Go to Wallens Market..Get makings for Rum and Tonic.Get a chunk of the good stinky cheeze thats always by the checkout.Lie in the hammocks some more..Read a good book..Buy some souveners you dont need from the kids on the beach.Watch the sea for a while and enjoy the breeze. After the sun goes down sit on the beach and have a good Cigar.Look at the night sky. The stars are plenty bright as there is very little ambient light in Placincia. Have a drink for someone you love who is gone....2 days is not enough
