I have been reading this board for awhile and did a lot of research before deciding on Mata Chica for my honeymoon in early August.
We are stressed new yorkers in major need of a quiet fabulous trip!
Today I read 2 posts on fodors.com from VERY upset people who stayed at Mata Chica in May. They both said there was loud construction right next door froam the early morning hours. One complained of horrible/non-existant service at the hotel and the other of a leaky thatched roof and worn out interiors.
Any advise?

I got a response back from MataChica directly and they said it was a neihbor building an addition to their house and no one had complained... But why would two people even bother to write such things on a travel website if they weren't true???

Some people are natural born complainers. They can take the smallest event and turn it into a mountain. It's unfortunate, but true.

and they are probably used to 24/7 "we're at your beck and call for everything from wiping your nose (or other parts) to solving your relationship problems"

actually, I think they are really the opposite... I think they feel as though they are in a foreign country, and think their crap don't stink and act like they are millionaires... even though they are church poor in reality.

Is it time for a pill ?
