Are there ATM machines available around San Pedro? Do most businesses accept MasterCard?

Most do... however, it may not be financially worth it when you get you bill from the credit card company as the card company adds 3 to 5% surcharge on credit cards.

KRich,
Really suggest coming with Traverlers Checks, they are easily cashed almost every where.
Denny is right about the surcharge on the credit cards, I don't feel the need to give the credit card companies anymore of my money than is absolutely necessary.
Of course cash is always good too. You can use US $'s or exchange to BZ$'s if you want to use local currency. There are a few ATM machines but not many.

Ditto. Bring cash. And lots of it!!! You'll need it for all the Belikins you'll be drinking.

While we're talkin bout money, how much cash do ya think would be reasonable for 2 people for a week, not including hotel and air. We want to eat good, drink better, take some trips, go fishin an snorklin, by some art and woodcarvings, generally do anything and everything we want for 8 days. What do you folks usually spend in a week, not being skimpy?

CrackerLarry

We always figure $150.00 per day for side trips, food drinks, cart rental shopping etc.
Maybe others have another opinion, but when we go I like to have a good time.

I agree with Scooter. I travel alone and usually end up spending $100.00 a day on average. Now, you can get off cheaper if you are able to cook in your rooms and you buy cases (notice how I say cases) of Belikin from the store, but hey, you're on vacation, so why not splurge. For two people, wanting to splurge, $150.00 is probably a fair dollar amount. Some days you may not spend it.

$150 a day ain't going to cut it to do all that.

crackerlarry: I have plenty of time on my hands this morning, so I put this together for you. I am sure others will have their views, and it would be interesting to hear those, but this is my best estimate based on your criteria.

Breakfast/$10each/7days $140
Lunch/$15each/7days 210
Dinner(includes wine)$50each/day 700
Lamani tour/$135each 270
Manatee tour/$90each 180
Snorkeling 1/2 day/$25each 50
Fishind full day/$250 for 2 250
Drinks/$30/person/7days 420
Shopping/$100/person for 7 days 200

TOTAL $2420
divided by 7 equals 345/day

Add $100 per day to that if you are going to buy Pedro drinks. :p
