Our anniversary dinner at Capricorn on June 13th was wonderful. The boat ride was a hoot, even though we got soaked to the bone on the ride home we laughed and loved it all. (Next time we'll bring ponchos...)
The sun was down when we arrived (our boat was late, of course) but we felt like we had stepped into a very romantic, almost fairytale setting, with
all the twinkling lights and candles. It seemed just like an oasis of light in a sea of darkness. Quite stunning.
The reception by staff upon arrival was really nice. Our table was perfect. We were at the far end of the porch which gave us plenty of
room to play footsie, tell secrets that wouldn't mean anything to anyone else anyway, laugh and just enjoy the breeze.
I don't know how many staff members stopped by the table to say hello, chat or just make sure everything was ok. It made us feel like family. Of course, during the meal, we were left alone. We really liked that.
I can't for the life of me remember what Susan ordered, though I know she remembers because it was quite good (and I even tasted it). Since it was the first night that you started serving meat again, I ordered the filet w/stone crab. I gave the waitress my specific requirements. She agreed with me. A little later, while enjoying everything about the evening I pointed to the window and said "Look Susan, there is the owner in the kitchen." Just then Merritt looks out the window at us, smiles and says "Medium rare, no broccoli!" We all got a big kick out of that. And I'll tell you, that filet was melt in my mouth perfect. Merritt did stop by the table later for a chat. We really appreciated that. And then came dessert. We fell in love with your coconut ice cream!
We lingered a bit too long at the table. The boat was waiting when we finished so we didn't have a chance to visit the bar area, but it looked really good. You have a great operation. Capricorn does everything right, and that can't be beat. Thanks to all for a fantastic meal and a wonderful anniversary evening.
