My goal is to throw away my cell phone and never use it again. For now, it is a necessary evil. What is the type of service there or do they have a tie-in with any major US affiliates? Unfortunately this is required until I can relocate, possibly to AC. Thanks for the insight.

GSM 1900, some US carriers offer roaming here.

Best option is to pick up a local SIM card and forward your calls to your number in Belize.

Stop in at C's Phones and CDs across from Milo's Money Exchange on Middle Street.
